To visit Ocean Side
Cordouan Lighthouse
This magnificent, historic lighthouse, still “inhabited” by its keepers, is one of a kind. No wonder it’s a UNESCO World Heritage site!
On the lighthouse’s website, a virtual tour will immediately take you on this unique sea adventure. Plan a full day for your visit, as it’s organized according to the tides.
The seaside town of Soulac
It’s an emblematic town known for its sea bathing tradition, its 500 elegant, sometimes exotic, and particularly pleasant-to-admire neo-colonial villas from the early 20th century, and its Notre-Dame-de-la-fin-des-Terres Basilica.
Pointe de Grave is the northern tip of Médoc. This cape slightly closes off the Gironde Estuary, marking, depending on the tide, the ocean’s entry into the land and the exit of river waters.
It’s also the starting point of the fabulous “Silver Coast” and its Ocean beaches.
It faces the sandbank that “floats” at sea, bearing the Cordouan Lighthouse. It’s an extraordinary place and a paradise for photographers.
